AI bookability · 2026

Local search is becoming local action. Is your business ready?

For twenty years, being found online meant being seen. This year the meaning changed. AI assistants no longer stop at recommending a place: they check whether it can be booked, and they build the shortlist from that. A venue whose availability a machine cannot read is not on it — however good the website.

What the guest sees

The shortlist is built before anyone reaches your site

A guest describes what they want in plain words. The assistant reads live availability across booking platforms and shows the slots inside the answer. The guest taps one and confirms it themselves on the platform. That last step is still human, and Google says so plainly: the process is not fully agentic yet.

The step before it is where a business is won or lost. Three of the four venues in the picture have availability a machine can read. The fourth is a fine restaurant with a lovely website, and it is simply not on the list.

What changed

From discovery to action, in three dated steps

August 2025

AI Mode starts finding tables in the US

Live availability shown inside the answer — for subscribers only, at first.

April 2026

Worldwide, no subscription

Availability read across booking platforms such as OpenTable, SevenRooms, TheFork, Booksy, Fresha and Vagaro. The guest picks a slot and confirms on the platform.

What we measured

Two hundred restaurants, one question: can a machine book you?

In July 2026 we walked 200 Amsterdam restaurants the way an assistant would: find the place, read it, try to reach the booking step. We stopped before submitting every time. The failure almost never happened at discovery. It happened at action.

Where you stand

Can AI actually book your business?

The AI Bookability Check answers that in about a minute, for free: whether your place can be found, understood and booked, by customers, by search, and by the assistants acting for them. It also reads what is around the booking: how you show up in AI answers, and whether the actions a customer takes actually work.

If the booking path is broken

G-Guest turns AI visibility into AI action

What that means, concretely: a structured booking layer and live availability for your venue, on a public page readable by people and by the assistants acting for them. Not an integration with every platform in the world; the layer underneath, the one a machine can read.
