Agent-ready booking

A local business is agent-ready for booking when an AI assistant, acting for a customer, can find it, understand what it offers, and complete a booking on the business's own public booking path without a human filling the gaps.

The property of a business, not of a tool: an assistant can get from the customer's request to a confirmed booking without a person stepping in.

Three things have to be true at once

Found: the assistant can locate the business and its booking path from public information, the same way a customer would, starting from a search or a map result rather than from a link somebody pasted.

Understood: what the business offers, when it is open and what can actually be booked are readable by a machine. Hours in an image, a menu in a PDF scan or a booking rule that lives only in a phone call fail this step.

Completed: the booking flow can be driven to the confirmation step. Date, time and party size can be read and filled, the guest's details can be entered, and nothing on the way stops an automated visitor.

Two levels of agent-ready

Browser-driven. The assistant operates the same form a person would, in a real browser. This is what most businesses can reach today with the booking tools they already have, provided the form is readable and not behind a bot wall.

Callable. The business publishes an interface an assistant can call directly, without a browser: a documented booking endpoint, a machine-readable schedule, a protocol built for agents. In the Amsterdam Restaurant Agent-Ready Booking Index 2026, an agent reached the final step through the browser on 16 of 163 working websites, and the number of businesses with a callable interface was zero in July and still zero in September.

What does not count

A phone number, a 'message us to book' line or a contact form that is not a reservation form. A booking widget that asks the visitor to prove it is human before showing a calendar. A reservation that only exists on a third-party marketplace the business's own presence never points to. The measurement follows the path an agent would find from the business itself, and it stops before submitting anything.

How it is measured

Agent-ready booking is the fourth dimension of the G-Lab AI Bookability Check and the quantity the Agent-Ready Booking Index reports for a whole market. In both, the agent walks the booking path to the moment the flow asks for the guest's own name and phone, and stops. No reservation is ever submitted, so measuring a business never costs it a table.
